The Fitzner/Eberhardt Arid Lands Ecology Reserve (ALE) is within the Saddle Mountain Wildlife Refuge adjacent to Hanford Nuclear Reservation north of Richland, Washington. It is closed to the public. These photos were made on a Native Plant Society field trip. Horn Rapids Park, also north of Richland, hosts a variety of shrub-steppe species growing on almost pure sand.
