Beckwith's Violet
Stems erect, clustered, with finely divided leaves. Leaves basal on long stalks and on stems fleshy, nearly round, divided into many narrow leaflets. Flowers variable in color. Generally, upper pair of petals deep maroon; lower 3 petals light bluish white to lavender with yellow centers and maroon veins. Lowest petal is short-spurred. Grows in very dry rocky places, baked clay soils, at mid to high elevations.
