Stem erect, unbranched. Plant obviously hairy. Basal and stem leaves palmately divided, 3 leaflets very narrow. Flower head roundish, often pointed to one side or down. Flowers white, tinged light yellowish or red, soon reflexing. Grows in moist meadows, bogs, drier rocky areas, at high elevations. Trifolium latifolium intergrades with both this species and T. longipes.
