Rusty-Haired Saxifrage
Rosette of oval leaves, erect flower stem. Leaves leathery, 3–4 in. long, round-toothed, with reddish hairs on underside. Flowers numerous, distributed on ascending branches, becoming dense toward tip in a flat-topped cluster. Flower sepals spread outward, oval petals about same length, white with no spots, ovary superior. Grows in moist, shady, rocky places from near coast to subalpine zone. Some plants from Mount Olympus vicinity lack petals. Rare in California.
