Hood's Phlox
Mat to ground-hugging, dense mound. Stems woolly but not glandular. Leaves sharply pointed at tip, very white-woolly at base. Flowers 1–3, sessile, among hairy bracts at tips of branchlets. Flower with hairy calyx, white to lavender. Grows in open dry forests, rocky or sandy areas, sagebrush or juniper woods, at low to high elevations.
