Pedicularis contorta

Clump of erect, hairless stems and leaves. Basal and lower stem leaves, blades oblong, 2–8 in. long, carried on long petioles, deeply lobed, with 25–41 linear toothed segments. Flower spike 2–11 in. long, bracts shorter than flowers. White or cream flowers have few dark spots; upper lip curved downward more than 180°, with tip of beak curving upward; lower lip composed of 3 wide spreading lobes. Grows in open forests and meadows at mid- to high elevations.
