Pale-Stemed Evening Primrose
Stem erect, whitish, branched, with reddish cast toward base. Leaves with short stalks, linear to narrow, lance-shaped, less than 2 in. long. Leaves near base are smaller than those further up stem. Flowers fragrant, white, opening in evening among leaves on upper part of stems, turning pink the second day as they wither. Seedpods somewhat contorted. Grows on sand dunes and sandy soils, generally at low elevations.
