Clustered Tarweed
Erect, strong-smelling. Stems with stiff upright branches, soft hairy to stiff bristles on lower stem, stalked glands above. Leaves upright, numerous on stems and in side clusters, hairs stiff, sharp, and pressed to surface, some stalked glands. Inflorescence consists of dense flower clusters at stem tops. Flowers small, yellow or yellow-green stained purplish, nearly sessile. Ray flowers none or 3, with square cut tips and 1(–12) disk flowers in head surrounded by 3 hairy, glandular, green bracts. Grows in open areas of forests at mid to high elevations.
