Silky Lupine
Upright leafy stems with silky spreading hairs. Leaves at base of stem lacking by bloom time or, if present, with long petioles. Leaflets 7–9, silky on both sides, oblong, with pointed tips, each 1–2 1/2 in. long. Flower spike 5–6 in. long, rarely dense. Flowers purple, blue, rose, cream, or white, with banner longer than it is wide, deeply reflexed and silky hairy on back. Grows on dry hills, valleys.
