Erect to decumbent. Stems stout, several somewhat hairy. Leaves in basal tuft and on stem, to 14 in. long, entire or slightly toothed, with long pointed tips, heart-shaped at base; stem leaves alternate, clasping. Flower heads single to several on leafy stalks. Sticky cup bracts have long, thin, spreading tips that recurve. Flower heads 1–2 in. across, with 10–35 yellow ray flowers, yellow disk flowers. Grows in salt marshes, wet meadows.
