Upright. Stem hairs with red glands on tips. Basal leaves 2–6 in. wide, with long petioles, palmately divided, 5–7 diamond-shaped lobes sometimes divided again to smaller lobes. Flower stem with small-leaved stalks, 1–3 flowers at top. Petals 5, 1/3–3/4 in. long, with soft hairs, white to pale pink with lavender veins. Grows in moist places, often associated with aspen trees in steppe, mostly east of the Cascade Mountains in central and southern Oregon.
