Eriogonum umbellatum</em> var. <em>dichrocephalum
Low mat of leaf clusters. Leaves narrow to widely rounded, pointed at tip, with few to dense hairs on upper and lower surfaces. Flower stem to 6 in. tall supports whorl of bracts and hairless flower stalks. Flowers cream to pale yellow, aging to reddish yellow. Grows in sandy or gravel soils, rimrock, at high elevations in Oregon and California. Similar E. umbellatum var. hausknechtii is more common at high elevations in Washington, parts of Oregon.
