Thyme Buckwheat
Mat or low cushion, leaves at ends of branches. Stems with shredded bark. Leaves linear, less than 1/2 in. long, ash-gray to green and hairless above. Flower stem 1–3 in., with whorl of leafy bracts about midway. Flowers in dense roundish cluster in a single cup, bracts erect, yellow or white to rose-red. Grows in dry or rocky soils in sagebrush, on rocky ridges.
