Cardaria draba
Erect stem with clasping leaves. Roots from spreading rhizomes forming dense patches. Stems hairy below, hairless above, divided in inflorescence. Leaves 1–2 in. long, widely lance- to egg-shaped. Basal leaves with short petioles, entire or toothed; upper leaves clasping stem, with base lobes wrapped somewhat around stem. Flowers on expanding upper stems, 4 petals white. Seedpods heart-shaped, hairless, on short stalks. Grows on disturbed, often salty soils. Native to Eurasia, a noxious weed here, particularly on agricultural land.
