Suksdorf's Sagewort
Stems many, stiffly erect, brown. Leaves sessile, elliptic to lance-shaped, 2–4 in. long, coarsely lobed; dark green and hairless above; gray with short, intermingled matted hairs beneath. Flower panicle erect, 7–12 in. long, with upright branches, dense with many flower heads, usually leafless. Flowers small in upright narrow cups. Grows in coastal drainages, along roads, ditches and other wet places, at low elevations. Mugwort, A. douglasiana, is similar in size and color but with leaves lobed only near the tips.
