Mats of flat rosettes with runners. Basal leaves 4–8 in., pinnately divided, many larger leaflets interspersed with smaller ones. Petioles with long spreading hairs. Larger leaflets 1/2–1 1/2 in. long, oblong or lance-shaped, with rounded tips, sharply toothed, with white silky hairs on upper and lower surfaces. Flowers yellow, solitary, with leafless stalks. Grows in mudflats, back waters, meadows, edges of ponds.
