Erect stems with spreading hairs on lower part. Leaves in basal rosette, 1/2–1 in., entire, surface densely coated with coarse, straight, branched hairs; stem leaves small, sometimes toothed. Flowers in terminal cluster, petals spoon-shaped, bright pink to rose-red, calyx rose-red. Seedpods straight, erect, to 2 1/2 in. long, narrow. Listed as rare in California and Oregon, where it is endemic to the Siskiyou Mountains.
